Operator Quick-Start

A 15-minute walkthrough for field operators to log in, complete an inspection, and submit the signed charge sheet.

Prerequisites

  • Active TankSafe account with the Operator role.
  • MFA configured if the tenant enforces it.
  • Latest version of Chrome, Edge, or Safari on a tablet or laptop (minimum 1280px width).
  • Stable network connection (TankSafe caches steps offline, but uploads require connectivity).

1. Sign in and verify job assignment

  1. Navigate to the TankSafe portal URL and sign in with your organisation Google account.
  2. Confirm you're on the Inspector Jobs page; jobs are sorted by due date.
  3. Select the job assigned for today and review its metadata (tank ID, location, forms required).
Double-check due dates

Late inspections trigger escalation workflows for supervisors. If you see a conflicting due date, notify the dispatcher immediately.

2. Review pre-inspection information

  1. Open the job to display the inspection summary panel.
  2. Read through Pre-start Briefing notes and attached documents.
  3. Confirm you have the required equipment (pressure gauge, PPE, test kit).

3. Launch the Inspection Wizard

  1. Click Start Inspection.
  2. The wizard opens with a stepper across the top: Overview β†’ Visual Checks β†’ Pressure Test β†’ Continuity β†’ Sign-off.
  3. TankSafe autosaves progress at each step; you can safely navigate backward without data loss.

4. Complete each form step

  • Photos are resized client-side to reduce upload time.
  • If offline, indicators in the header show pending uploads; reconnect before final submission.

5. Resolve validation errors

  • Red callouts appear if required fields are missing.
  • Click the callout to jump directly to the problematic field.
  • After corrections, select Validate to re-run checks.

6. Generate and review the charge sheet

  1. On the Sign-off step, click Generate Charge Sheet.
  2. TankSafe renders the PDF in a side panel for immediate review.
  3. Confirm that photos, readings, and signatures are correct.
  4. If updates are needed, close the preview, adjust data, and regenerate.

7. Submit inspection

  1. Click Submit Inspection.
  2. Choose the supervisor for notification (pre-populated list).
  3. TankSafe locks the inspection and marks the job as Completed.
  4. A confirmation toast links to the final PDF for download.

Next steps

  • Notify your supervisor if on-site remediation is needed.
  • Archive physical notes according to your organisation's policy.
