Connectivity Requirements & Draft Handling
TankSafe currently requires an active network connection to save inspection progress and submit results. Offline sync and draft recovery workflows are on the product roadmap but are not available in the application today. Use this guide to understand present-day limitations and the manual safeguards you can apply in low-connectivity environments.
Current capabilities
- The inspection wizard validates and saves data directly to Supabase after each step.
- If the network connection drops mid-step, unsaved data may be lost; the UI will surface an error toast.
- Browser refresh or navigation away clears unsaved progress—there is no automatic draft recovery.
Field-readiness checklist
- Verify LTE/5G or Wi-Fi coverage in work areas before starting inspections.
- Keep a mobile hotspot or secondary connection available for redundancy.
- Download reference SOPs or forms as PDFs if you expect intermittent signal.
- Capture critical readings on paper as a backup if submitting digitally is delayed.
Handling connectivity interruptions
- When the app displays a network error, pause work and move to an area with reliable signal.
- Retry the step after reconnection; re-enter data if prompted.
- If repeated failures occur, contact an administrator to log the issue and consider rescheduling the inspection.
Future roadmap (planned)
- Offline data capture for inspections with local storage and conflict resolution.
- Draft recovery panel for administrators to restore partially completed inspections.
- Sync dashboard showing pending uploads, retry status, and conflict alerts.
Roadmap items are tracked in the TankSafe product backlog; timelines will be announced in release notes once work begins.
